Terms of Service
Effective 20 October 2026
ChipJTAG Omni is Windows desktop software sold as a yearly subscription for a number of computers. Paddle.com sells it to you as our reseller and Merchant of Record. You can try it free for 30 days, cancel at any time, and get a refund within 14 days of a payment.
1. Who we are
ChipJTAG Omni is made and sold by Yueh Se Huang, an individual based in Taiwan ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@chipjtag.com. These terms apply when you download, try, buy or use ChipJTAG Omni, its extensions and its documentation (the "Software").
2. Buying through Paddle
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
When you buy, Paddle charges you, adds any sales tax or VAT, sends your receipt and manages your subscription under Paddle's buyer terms. These terms cover your use of the Software.
3. Plans and renewal
- Each plan lets you use the Software on a set number of computers at the same time: Standard 1, Personal 2, Team 5.
- Plans are paid yearly in advance and renew automatically at the end of each year until you cancel.
- If we change the price of your plan, we email you at least 30 days before the renewal it applies to, so you can cancel first.
- You can cancel at any time with the link in your Paddle receipt or by writing to us. The license keeps working until the end of the year you paid for. Refunds follow our Refund Policy.
4. Trial and free features
- The first launch on a computer starts a 30-day trial that includes every paid feature.
- After the trial, live waveforms, snapshots, the serial terminal and the CPU and MCU Debug extensions stay free. Later versions may change what the free features include.
- Features marked alpha or beta may be incomplete and may change without notice.
5. Activation and computers
- You activate a license in the Software with your purchase email and a code we send to that address. The Software creates a key for the computer, and we record the computer as one of your plan's seats.
- When every seat is in use, you can replace a computer once every 30 days for each email address. If you have a good reason to change more often, write to us.
- The license file on a computer is valid for up to 30 days and renews itself whenever the computer is online.
- Don't share license files, codes or access beyond the people and computers your plan covers.
6. What you may not do
- Copy, sell, rent or sublicense the Software, or offer it as a hosted service.
- Remove, bypass or disable its license checks.
- Reverse engineer it, except where the law allows this despite the restriction.
The open-source components inside the Software keep their own licenses, listed in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt.
7. Your hardware and your data
JTAG operations, register access, terminal macros, power-cycle automation and agent-driven sessions can change the state of connected hardware. Check voltages, wiring, the selected target and your authorization before you connect. Use test boards where you can, and keep backups. The Software is an engineering aid and doesn't replace design review, electrical safety procedures or production test.
Your BSDL files, recordings, board data and project files remain yours and stay on your computer unless you choose to export or send them.
8. Updates
We release updates that fix problems and change features. The Software can check for updates and installs one when you choose to.
9. Warranty
We work to fix the problems you report. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the Software is provided "as is", without warranties of accuracy, uninterrupted operation or fitness for a particular purpose, and it is not made for safety-critical use. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law gives you that can't be excluded.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or profit, equipment damage or production interruption that come from using the Software. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for the Software in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
11. Ending your license
You can stop using the Software at any time. If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, we may suspend or end your license after telling you why.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China). If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring a claim in your local courts. Please write to us first: most problems are solved faster by email.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. If a change affects your subscription, we email you before it takes effect.
