Privacy Policy
Effective 20 October 2026
We collect only what we need to sell and activate licenses. Your captures and project files stay on your computer. This website uses no cookies, advertising or analytics.
1. Who is responsible
Yueh Se Huang, No. 36, Yongbao St., Neihu Dist., Taipei City 114, Taiwan ("we") is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: support@chipjtag.com.
Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record, is separately responsible for the data you give it at checkout, under Paddle's own privacy policy.
2. What we collect and why
- Purchase details: your email address, Paddle customer and subscription IDs, plan, number of computers, subscription status and dates, transaction ID, amount and currency. Paddle sends them to us when you buy. We use them to issue and renew your license, answer support requests and keep sales records. Basis: our contract with you, and our legal duty to keep records.
- Computer activation: an ID and public key that the Software creates for each computer, the computer's name, the activation and last check-in times, and the license files we issue. The Software sends them when you activate and when it renews a license. We use them to keep a license to the computers it covers. Basis: our contract with you.
- Sign-in codes: your email address, a one-way hash of the 6-digit code we send you, and the times you asked for codes. We use them to confirm you own the purchase email and to block abuse. Codes expire after 15 minutes; the request times are deleted after an hour. Basis: our contract with you and our interest in security.
- Email: the messages we send you, such as codes and license emails, and the email you send to support. Basis: our contract with you and our interest in answering you.
- Network data: your IP address when the Software or your browser contacts our servers. We use it to deliver the response and to limit how many requests one address can make. We don't store it in our license records. Basis: our interest in security.
- Diagnostics: diagnostic files you choose to send us. We use them only to investigate the problem you report. Basis: your consent.
3. What we don't collect
- Your waveform recordings, BSDL files, board data and project files. They stay on your computer unless you choose to export or send them.
- Card or bank details. Paddle handles payment.
- Cookies, advertising or analytics on chipjtag.com. The checkout page on license.chipjtag.com loads Paddle's checkout, which uses its own cookies to complete the payment.
4. Who we share it with
- Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record, which receives your purchase and payment details directly.
- Vultr, which hosts our license server and its database in Tokyo, Japan.
- Cloudflare, which runs DNS for our domain and forwards email sent to our support address.
- Google, whose Gmail sends and receives our email and whose Sheets and Drive hold our license administration records and their backups.
- GitHub, which hosts the download and update files and sees your IP address when the Software checks for updates.
We don't sell personal data or share it for advertising.
5. Where it is processed
Our database is in Japan. Our providers also process data in the United States and other countries. We use providers that commit to protecting it, including through standard contractual clauses where the law requires them.
6. How long we keep it
- Account, license and purchase records: while you have a license and for 3 years after it ends, then we delete them.
- Sign-in codes: 15 minutes. Code request times: 1 hour.
- Support email: as long as we need it to help you, and no longer than 3 years.
- Backups: replaced on a rolling basis within about 30 days.
7. Your rights
You can ask to see, copy, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent you gave. Under Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act you can also ask us to stop collecting, processing or using it. Write to support@chipjtag.com from the email address concerned; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
8. Security
All connections to our servers use HTTPS. Our server accepts administrator logins by key only and sits behind a firewall. License files are digitally signed, sign-in codes are stored only as hashes, and we keep as little data as the service needs.
9. Children
ChipJTAG Omni is engineering software and isn't meant for children under 16.
10. Changes
We update this policy when what we collect or how we use it changes; the date at the top shows the current version. If a change is significant, we email subscribers before it takes effect.
